What Forgiveness Isn’t

I used to be on Google searching for
answers. I would key “how to forgive”, glance over the many options that came
up, selected a few and read. I wasn’t satisfied like the previous times. I
still wouldn’t find what I was searching for. I was searching for
the answer I longed to hear.
My heart ached for a remedy, so I
searched. I had been dealing with a lot of hurt. I honestly wanted
to let go in a particular sense but as much as I tried, I kept failing. How
could I forgive and forget at the same time? I was okay with
forgiving but struggled to forget.
Those memories, how could I just forget? I couldn’t erase them, wash them, delete them or uproot them!!! But I desperately wanted to forget. Google didn’t offer the quick fix I thought I needed – the “formula”, the “herb”, the “pill”, the “mixture” to forget, and neither did any of the few people I spoke to. I have to follow the process. No quick fixes. No shortcuts.
Reflect….
